As you've probably heard by now, Martin Reway is embroiled in a dramatic situation that's unfolding in the Czech Republic.
We decided to reach out to his agent, Michal Sivek, to clear up some lingering questions we have regarding Montreal's prospect.
In regards to Sparta Prague, are you still talking to each other?
"We are in touch on daily basis with Sparta about Martin. There is no red flag between us."
If Martin Reway was to leave for another European league or the KHL, can Sparta stop him from playing since they still hold his rights?
"Martin has a valid contract until 30th April 2016, so there is no way Martin can leave to different club in Europe without Sparta’s permission."
It was mentioned in iDNES that there is an offer from an Extraliga club. After the weekend, has there been any offers from other leagues as well?
" That's wrong. We never said that we have specific offer from the Extraliga on the table (interest is not an offer) and there is not such a comment written in there."
"Although there is a huge interest in Martin’s services from Extraliga managers, it completely depends on Sparta Prague and their decision."
"The same with KHL. Martin was drafted by Slovan Bratislava, they are holding his rights until the age of 28. So if there would be any other KHL team interested in him (and we registered a lot of interest form different clubs), they need to talk to Slovan first. If there will not be any agreement with Slovan there is no way Martin can play anywhere else in KHL. And again, no possible agreement if Sparta give red light to this.
Slovan Rumours
There are rumours swirling that Reway had signed with Slovan of the KHL, but both parties denied it resoundingly. When asked about the possibility of Reway signing in the KHL, Sivek responded: "I don't see that happening in the upcoming days."
However, there will be a meeting between Sparta's GM and the Slovan's GM in the near future according to idnes.cz.
