Canadiens vs. Penguins second period thread

The Canadiens lead 1-0 heading into the 2nd period.

Matthew O'Haren-USA TODAY Sports

Max Pacioretty opened the scoring 5:46 into the first period on the Habs' 5th shot attempt and 2nd shot of the game. Brendan Gallagher earned his 3rd assist of the season by corralling a bouncing puck in the Penguins' corner and spinning to find Pacioretty alone near the blue-line. The top two lines for the Canadiens were relentless, combining for a positive 7 Corsi rating (putting up 25 shot attempts), in fact, with the exception of Nathan Bealieu, every Canadiens player had an even or positive Corsi rating.

Sidney Crosby played a subpar first period by his own valuation, putting a -5 Corsi rating  (2CF, 7CA), and showing some frustration towards Jeff Petry after being denied  a goal on a 2 on 1 opportunity. If the Canadiens are already getting to Crosby, it's a good sign heading into the second, as long as they can turn some of those shot attempts into timely goals.
