Michel Therrien reunited David Desharnais and Max Pacioretty in a four on four situation to open the period. While most people were throwing things at their TVs, Tom Gilbert found himself wide open and took a pass from Max Pacioretty in the slot and buried a wrist shot. Therrien's smile from the bench could be seen beaming from space.
The Habs' powerplay looks a little better. The days of having to wait for a Sheldon Souray blast or an Alexi Kovalev snipe to get some offense are long behind us. The Habs don't have to depend on their powerplay to give them the bulk of their offense - they are a great five on five team. So, to see a 4 minute powerplay here not garner a goal, but at least get some momentum going is a step in the right direction.
Do the Habs look elite tonight? Taking a 3-1 lead into the third against one of the best teams in the league doesn't mean they're elite, but it's one step closer if the Habs can shut down the game and come away with a perfect road trip in the books.
