Canadiens vs Rangers second period thread

Things are getting chippy in New York. We're scoreless headed into the second period.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Where has Max Pacioretty gone? With no third offensive threat on his line he's been a little quiet. Dale Weise is a heart-and-soul guy, as are guys like Christian Tomas who was rewarded for it with powerplay time in the first period, and it's characters like these that seem to glue a team together with their grit and determination. But why do they need to be put out of their element as a reward? Weise has been suffering playing on the top line, except the odd flash like at the end of the period when that line had their only sustained pressure. Maybe this is yet another genius coaching strategy from Michel Therrien who uses line combinations as a tool to create surmountable adversity within his team.

Chris Kreider can't stop. Otherwise, he's a decent player.
