Montreal Canadiens Links

  • Carey Price did a fantastic job representing the Montreal Canadiens at the NHL All-Star Game in Columbus over the weekend. He addressed the media following the game, praising the host city. He also mentioned the Habs need for consistency on their push to the playoffs. [Canadiens]
  • Price was in the spotlight away from the ice as well, showing off his sense of humour. Check out this hilarious little on-camera jab at rival Phil Kessel and the Toronto Maple Leafs[Sportsnet]
  • The star goalie enjoyed a little mid-game snack when a fan shared some nachos with him. Let's hope we don't hear that he's day-to-day with food poisoning tomorrow. [The Score]
  • He also had a blast with Los Angeles Kings head coach Darryl Sutter's son. Check out their awesome selfie. [Twitter]
  • Back in Habs land, the team has recalled Christian Thomas from the Hamilton Bulldogs. The youngster has zero points in three games so far this season. [TVA]

Around the League and Elsewhere

  • NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman sat down and spoke with George Stroumboulopoulos during the NHL All-Star Game. Naturally, expansion was a hot topic throughout the weekend. Bettman said he sees expansion in the future, and maybe even in Canada: [Sportsnet]
"We've got great talent and there are lots of places, including in Canada, that would like to have a franchise. Whether or not there's a timetable in place, the answer's 'No, not right now.' But at some point in the future I can see some expansion somewhere."
  • The Columbus Blue Jackets' goal cannon was fired several times on Sunday. It was a record-setting All-Star Game, with a ridiculous 29 goals being scored. [La Presse]
  • Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin finally got his car! Following Sunday's game, the superstar was given the keys to a brand new Honda. Ovie immediately donated the car to a special cause. [NHL]
  • Hockey continues to grow in Columbus and the entire state of Ohio. There's no doubt New York Rangers star Rick Nash played a big role in its rise. [Puck Daddy]
  • In case you missed it, enjoy this great piece by Dallas Stars stud and NHL leading goal scorer Tyler Seguin in The Players' Tribune. He says: "The Bruins gave up on me too early." [The Players Tribune]
  • Lastly, Nikita Gusev scored one of the most ridiculous goals you will ever see. Check out this absolutely insane spinning lacrosse-style goal in the KHL Skills Competition. [Puck Daddy]
