Montreal Canadiens Links

  • How is life after hockey going for former Hab Mathieu Darche? Armed with a Marketing and International Business Degree from Montreal's McGill University, I'd say he is well suited for what he is doing now. Dave Stubbs gives us a glimpse. [Montreal Gazette]
  • (French) Charles Hudon is striving to be like Brendan Gallagher. Hudon, 20, is hoping to make the team out of training camp at the same age as Gallagher did two years ago. [RDS]
  • My good friend Ronald King from La Presse tells us why Francis Bouillon is not such a bad insurance policy. [La Presse] (French). Our own Andrew Berkshire did hit it on the nose though that with Michel Therrien behind the bench, having Bouillon in his stable might not be good for our young defenders development. [EOTP]
  • For all of you Habs fans out in Newfoundland, the Hamilton Bulldogs will be playing three preseason games out your way for the Mary's Cup exhibition. Don't miss your chance to see the up and coming Canadiens stars. [The Hamilton Spectator]
  • The Habs are holding open tryouts for a new anthem singer. Which brings us to the question, why not Sara Diamond? [Canadiens]

  • The Lightning have yet another new building name. After just two years, the Tampa Bay Times Forum is will now be called Amalie Arena. If you close your eyes and say it, it kind of sounds French! []
  • David Krejci signed a rather lucrative deal with the Boston Bruins, to the tune of $43.5M over 6 years. [TSN]
  • The Florida Panthers have signed number one overall pick Aaron Ekblad to a three-year entry level contract. Ekblad sustained a concussion on August 5th playing in a World Junior Training Camp exhibition game against the Czech Republic. He is expected to be ready for training camp and should be good to go for the Panthers this year. Nobody on earth is expecting him to not make the team. [TSN]
  • Is having a team in Las Vegas a good thing or a bad thing? This will be a much debated topic until, if ever, there is a team put in Sin City, but let Dave Lozo tell you why it's a good idea. [Bleacher Report]
  • Bruce Boudreau is pretty excited about his new team. ESPN sat down and interviewed the Anaheim Ducks coach. See what he had to say. [ESPN]
