Canadiens vs Capitals game thread

The two teams are planning to ice a strong roster, as both the Capitals and the Habs look to start building chemistry and test lines before the start of the regular season.

Neither Barry Trotz nor Michel Therrien are messing around with their lineups, as evidenced by the rosters they submitted for tonight's game.

The most interesting variation within the Habs lines is the insertion of Alex Galchenyuk between Max Pacioretty and PA Parenteau. This spot is usually reserved for David Desharnais, however he will not be dressed for this game due to playing recently in Quebec City.

The fourth line will remain familiar to those who have been following the preason, although we'll see Dale Weise's first action, replacing Brandon Prust who played alongside David Desharnais on Friday.

Jiri Sekac gets another chance to impress, this time he'll be playing with fellow countryman, and all around hockey stud, Tomas Plekanec. There's no word yet on whether or not Sekac is going to adopt the turtleneck style, but let's hope he does.

The defense is starting to shape up. Other than Jarred Tinordi, the rest of the defenceman that will play tonight should be on the main roster come October 8th. Tinordi will have to up his quality of play if he hopes to usurp the front runner for the last defense spot, Nathan Beaulieu.

From the Caps we should see the same style of high-flying offense we're used to. All eyes will be on Alex Ovechkin, although the Canadiens defencemen would be wise to monitor Andre Burakovsky as much as possible, given that possesses a laser of a shot.

Puck drop is at 6:00 PM EST, at the Bell Centre.

The game will be carried on TV by RDS.
