Canadiens vs Avalance game thread

Game two of the preseason gets underway tonight, as the Habs will face the Avs. Both teams are icing a relatively strong lineup.

A surprisingly strong roster will take the ice tonight for the Montreal Canadiens, as the vast majority of the regulars will suit up to face the Colorado Avalanche. As a bonus, the Avalanche have also submitted a rather strong roster, filled with their usual offensive threats; Matt Duchene, Nate MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog and Ryan O'Reilly.

Montreal's probably regular season first line will take part in tonight's matchup. We'll have to keep an eye on Max Pacioretty, David Desharnais and PA Parenteau to see how they do versus actual NHL talent.

Nikita Scherbak will line up on the left wing, beside Alex Galchenyuk, with whom he's shown some instant chemistry in their relatively short usage together. What will likely be the Habs' fourth line come October 8th, will play as Montreal's third line tonight.  To round it off, we'll see a combination of Travis Moen, Charles Hudon and Michael Bournival on the fourth line. Coincidentally, all three of the aforementioned players are fighting for the same final roster spot.

As for the defense, given that Andrei Markov and Tom Gilbert played versus the Bruins, they'll sit out this game. We'll see PK Subban playing with Alexei Emelin, and Mike Weaver paired with Nathan Beaulieu. All four of them should be in the lineup once the final cuts are made. Interestingly, Greg Pateryn will play his second game in a row, taking Francis Bouillon's place alongside Davis Drewiske.

Puck drop is at 7:30 PM EST, at the Bell Centre.

The game will be carried on TV by RDS.
