Marc Bergevin named a finalist for the GM of the year award.

After a solid trade deadline, Bergevin finds himself among the elite 3 GMs of the year.

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

It was announced today that Habs GM Marc Bergevin will be a finalist for the GM of the year award. He'll be joined by Bob Murray and Dean Lombardi.

Most notably, Bergevin acquired a few interesting pieces at the deadline, including star Thomas Vanek and defensive stalwart Mike Weaver. He did make a few questionable moves during the season, including the Alexei Emelin extension, and arguably the Daniel Briere signing, but it would be fair to say that Briere has provided the Habs with a lot of timely offense in the playoffs so far.

Otherwise, Bergevin has shown an endless amount of emotion and responsibility towards his players. He's always the first in the tunnel whenever a player is stretchered off, or his team wins a big game.

Congrats Mr.Bergevin, those trade deadline deals continue to pay off for you.
