The Lightning took the lead pretty much bang on at the halfway mark of the first period with a Nikita Kucherov goal assisted by J.T. Brown and Cedric Paquette. That lead lasted for about 20 seconds, as Tomas Plekanec got off a beauty of a goal over the shoulder of Lindback and tied the game at one.

So Briere didn't score a million goals like we all thought he would, but he does share the shot lead for all skaters with 3. Plekanec, who the Habs need to have a solid game, is having a really great period and shares that lead with 3 shots as well. The Habs, consequently, outshot the Bolts 14-4. P.K. Subban has been getting decent, maybe not ample, but certainly decent, ice time in this game. Oh and P.K. has 3 shots on goal too. Tons of chances in this game! Not a lot of goals and not a lot of penalties called, but lots of chances.

And it actually looks like this is a cohesive team that could do some damage (to other teams, not themselves) in the playoffs. Yeah sure it's only the first period of the first game in the opening round, but ya gotta dream. What do you bet the Habs manage 3 shots combined in the second period?

If you've got playoff superstitions - break'em out.
