Canadiens vs Red Wings game thread

The streaking Montreal Canadiens are looking to rifle off another win tonight against Original Six opponent Detroit.

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

The Habs roll into Motown tonight looking to build on a modest three game win streak which included big wins against Boston and Toronto. The Canadiens had key contributions from Rene Bourque and Daniel Briere, both of whom have heard more boos than applause this season. It's a crucial time in the season and consistency is needed from all four lines.

That consistency isn't always an easy thing to bottle, as Travis Moen, Dale Weise, and Brandon Prust can attest. Just as the Habs thought they were getting the fourth line they've seen all year, the trio dropped out of the line-up with injuries to all occurring in a week's span. Michael Bournival, Lars Eller, and Ryan White, no strangers to questions of consistency, look to replace them on the fourth line.

And mercifully, Douglas Murray is scratched.

The Red Wings would like to build some consistency of their own. The team has looked more like a M.A.S.H. unit (too dated?) than a contender this year. Only two players, Drew Miller and Kyle Quincey, have dressed for all 72 Detroit games. On the bright side, former Saint John Sea Dog, Tomas Jurco returns to the line-up tonight. He'll play alongside David Legwand and the Mule tonight, while Gustav Nyquist (enjoying an otherworldly second half) continues to skate alongside Riley Sheahan and Tomas Tatar.
