The semi-finals of the women's hockey tournament gets underway today, as the powerhouse Team USA face's off versus the women from Sweden.

The USA went straight to the semi's on the back of a 2-1 record in the preliminary games. Although they dropped their game versus Canada, they did manage to obliterate Switzerland by a score of 9-0, and brush off Finland by a score of 3-1.

The Swedish women have already exceeded expectations for these Olympic Games, considering the country considered not sending a team at all to Sochi. Their preliminary games went relatively well, including a 4-0 win versus Germany, and a 1-0 victory versus Japan.

Although they suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Team Russia, Sweden managed to beat their eternal rivals Finland in the quarter-finals of the playoffs by a score of 4-2, assuring their spot in the semi-finals.

Team USA is expected to completely dominate this game, as their roster features a plethora of supremely talented players, but Sweden is not to be taken lightly especially since they'll be riding the wave of momentum provided by their victory over Finland.

Puck drop is at 7:30am EST. It will be aired in Canada on CBC, In the United States on NBCSN, including a live stream from both websites.
