Habs fly into Denver hoping to put an end to a season high three game losing streak against Calvin Pickard and the Colorado Avalanche

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

How could things look dire for a team that is atop the NHL standings and has 16 wins in 25 games? Easy, back-to-back losses to one of the NHL's worst teams, a three game losing streak, and a four game Western road swing. The Habs aren't at a make or break point of the season, but starting off December the right way would stop a lot of fans from pressing the panic button (also not relying so much on defensemen past their best before date would aid and abet this as well).

The Habs will make minimal changes to their lineup. Bournival is still injured and no one has been called up from Hamilton. So the only call is Tom Gilbert dressing in place of Bryan Allen.

The Avalanche have a huge list of injured players, but aside from Varlamov and Jamie McGinn, the injuries are mostly to their bottom six. The Avalanche have been flying high winning 3 of their last four with Nathan MacKinnon and Tyson Barrie leading the way. Barrie's impact has further underlined how much the Avs missed him in last year's playoffs.

Carey Price is expected to return to the net for the Habs tonight in Denver. He'll be facing Calvin Pickard at the opposite end.

This weekend I decided to become a Buffalo Bills fan because I needed to bring more frustration into my life. At least I'm not a Jays fan right?

Puck drop is at 9:00 PM EST (10:30 PM In Newfoundland!)
