Montreal Canadiens Links

  • Michel Therrien reassured everybody in Habs land on Monday that there is no "panic". This, of course, is in response to the shellacking that the Calgary Flames gave the Habs on Sunday. [La Presse] (French)
  • The Habs got absolutely manhandled by the Calgary Flames on Sunday night 6-2. Quite frankly, the Habs, who beat the Flames in a shootout early last week in Calgary, were outplayed substantially in that game too. [NHL]
  • No matter what, when you look at Brendan Gallagher, you will be hard pressed to find him at a time that he isn't smiling. Think about it, when you see him out there on the ice, or even on camera after the game, have you ever seen him not in a good mood? He's Mr. Happy! [Calgary Sun]
  • Will Andrei Markov go down as one of the greatest Habs of all time? Most likely you are saying, not unless he wins a Stanley Cup can you consider anyone one of the greatest Canadiens. But, you would be hard pressed to argue against his career statistics and he's still got a lot of time. [Canadiens]
  • The ugliness on display in Calgary wasn't really anything new, in fact getting outplayed is a bit of a trend for the Canadiens, a bad trend. [EOTP]

Around the League

  • The NHL Three Stars of the Month for October  were announced on Monday. Sidney Crosby, Corey Perry, and Tyler Seguin took home the honors after putting up absolutely dominating numbers to kick off the season. [NHL]
  • The World Under-17 Challenge, there are lots of things that are going to change. Hopefully this makes it easier on everybody, at least from a scheduling perspective. Bob McKenzie gives us his thoughts. [TSN]
  • Edmonton Oilers defenseman and captain Andrew Ference was suspended by the NHL for three games on Monday for an illegal hit to the head of Vancouver Canucks forward Zack Kassian on Saturday night. The Oilers will also be without Taylor Hall for 2-4 weeks, so things are getting bleaker and bleaker in Oil Town. [Copper & Blue]
  • Dallas Stars defenseman Trevor Daley has been one of the best surprises in the league this year, but still has gone relatively unnoticed despite his efforts. The 31-year old Daley has 4 goals and 9 points in just 11 games for Dallas this season while playing on their top power play. [Puck Daddy]
  • Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Pearson was named the NHL's Rookie of the Month for October on Monday. He has been apart of pretty much the only line doing anything offensively in LA, "That 70's Line", along with Jeff Carter and Tyler Toffoli. [Kings]
