Montreal Canadiens

  • (French) The Habs' director of amateur scouting, Trevor Timmins, has made plenty of successful picks in his career. Under Timmins' direction, the Habs had acquired players like Carey Price, P.K. Subban, Max Pacioretty, Brendan Gallagher, Alex Galchenyuk, and Alexei Emelin. Timmins' biggest regret though? Passing over Claude Giroux at 20th in 2006. More about his career in the article. [La Presse]
  • New line combination spotted during Saturday's practice: Bourque-Galchenyuk-Gallagher. [Canadiens]
  • Carey Price wins the Molson Cup for October. He'll be presented with the award before tonight's game. [Canadiens]
  • The "new" Champlain Bridge in Montreal will be named after Maurice Richard. La Presse broke the news, but Puck Daddy has a report in English (for you non-french speakers). [La Presse, Puck Daddy]
  • Should a defenseman's shove negate goalie interference? Justin Bourne argues why it should be the responsibility of the skater to avoid contact with the goalie - ie. why Gallagher's signature move is kinda unfair to the other team. [The Score]

  • Movember has begun! Remember to donate and raise awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men's mental health programs. Movember Foundation CEO & co-founder Adam Garone talks about how George Parros was one the first to embrace the movement in 2007. [NHL]
  • Strong case for why the NHL should adopt the AHL's new approach to overtime. Starting this season, AHL ties will be settled by three minutes of 4-on-4, and then four minutes of 3-on-3. Remember how awesome it was that time the L.A Kings played two minutes of 3-on-3 vs the New Jersey Devils? [SB Nation]

  • A series of video evidence showcasing why Patrick Marleau is plenty clutch for the San Jose Sharks. [The Hockey Writers]
  • The NHL is cracking down on diving. As Don Cherry once colourfully said - "We’ve got to watch that we don’t start acting like those goofy soccer guys." (disclaimer: we here at EOTP think that soccer is a fine sport, played by fine athletes. Really.) [The New York Times]
  • Why the John Tavares plus Kyle Okposo pairing continues to be the best thing about the New York Islanders: because of Coach John Capuano's chaotic offensive style, which uses Tavares and Okposo to keep other teams off-balance. Excellent breakdown. [SB Nation]
