Montreal Canadiens Links
- The Habs are gearing up to welcome Sergei Gonchar into the fold. They've prepared him a spot in the dressing room, and Andrei Markov weighed in on his new teammate, who he knows quite well. Markov, at least, believes that Gonchar may be the missing piece to ignite the struggling powerplay. [Canadiens]
- Here's a great video of Scott Morrison reflecting on the career of legendary coach Pat Burns. Burns is rightfully being inducted into the Hall of Fame posthumously after a great coaching career. He coached the Canadiens for four seasons, never missing the playoffs, and making the Stanley Cup finals once in 1989. [Sportsnet]
- Jarred Tinordi was sent back down to the Hamilton Bulldogs yesterday. Presumably, this move is about making space for the incoming Gonchar on the roster. [EOTP]
- It's not technically a Canadiens story, but it is entirely possible that Tuukka Rask will not be suiting up against the Habs tonight, as he got lit up and pulled against the Leafs last night. [NHL]
Around the League and Elsewhere
- Apparently the focus for the Bruins heading into tonight's game is to keep their emotions in check, and avoid losing control. Milan Lucic was quoted saying that it's "not about him versus Montreal," and that the Bruins need to play the "right way." Whether or not this means a reprieve for Dale Weise shall be revealed by day's end. [NHL]
- Erie Otters coach Kris Knoblauch spoke out on the Connor McDavid injury, saying they would rather their superstar not engage in fighting moving forward. The consensus number one prospect is currently out five to six weeks after hurting his hand in a fight. [Sportsnet] He's basically going to be encased in a plastic-wrap bubble for the rest of the season [Lighthouse Hockey]
- Sticking with the McDavid story, director of NHL central scouting Dan Marr says that even if his injury is going to force him to miss the 2014-15 WJHC, it likely won't affect his draft ranking. [NHL]
- TSN site BarDown compiled a list of cool videos featuring some young kids scoring beauty goals. It's not NHL related, but some of these kids have pretty sick mitts, so they may one day be able to make it there. [BarDown]
- According to Renaud Lavoie, Martin Brodeur will not be announcing his retirement this month, and is keeping his options open. [Twitter]
