P.A. Parenteau injury: Canadiens forward suffers lower body injury

New Habs forward P.A. Parenteau will not return to the game tonight against Ottawa.

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

It hasn't been a great start for P.A. Parenteau's tenure with the Habs, after the forward blocked a shot awkwardly in the first period, he left the game but returned for a few shifts, only to leave once again during the second period.

The Canadiens have announced that Parenteau will not return on Saturday against the Senators, but that could be a precaution considering we're still in preseason and the Senators are playing to hurt instead of win.

Parenteau has three days off to heal from whatever lower body ailment he suffered, which is hopefully nothing but a charlie horse. He joins Lars Eller on the injury list, which could put the Habs down two top-nine forwards to begin the year.

Gallagher was moved to the top line with Pacioretty and Desharnais while Parenteau is out.

UPDATE

Michel Therrien confirmed after the game that Parenteau is fine and was taken out of the game for precautionary reasons.
