Canadiens vs Red Wings game thread

Pavel Datsyuk returns to the lineup as the Red Wings roll into Montreal for an Original Six matchup. Bournival returns to Montreal - creating a crowded bench. Who sits? Who plays?

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Pavel Datsyuk makes his season debut tonight which is great for those of us in fantasy keeper leagues who didn't know whether to keep him or chuck him. It's not so great for the Habs as Datsyuk has 7 goals in 11 games. I forget that Detroit has only recently moved to the Eastern Conference, hence the relatively low number of games played against the Habs for a guy who's been in the league since 2001.

Dale Weise draws back into the lineup tonight while Jiri Sekac sits. I wouldn't consider it too controversial, just seems like part of the rotation when you have a fully healthy complement of forwards. Michael Bournival was recalled on Monday which makes me wonder if the Habs will make a corresponding roster move/trade. There's just far too many guys who deserve playing spots and not enough roster spots. Not a bad problem to have.

One bad problem to have is a shitty power play and surprise! both the Wings and the Habs have that problem. The Habs are showing some life and clicking at 15%, Detroit is at 9.5% - which is just sad.

Eller? Bourque? Desharnais? Who scores their first of the season tonight?

Puck drop is at 7:30 PM ET.  You can watch:
