How P.K. Subban scored his goals in 2013 - Part 2

P.K. Subban began the season missing a few games due his contract negotiations lasting into the season, and ended it by winning the Norris Trophy for the NHL's outstanding defenseman. No big deal.

March 13th, 2013: P.K. Subban and Andrei Markov exchange the puck at the Senators' blueline before Subban winds up and takes a heavy slap shot that beats Robin Lehner. Subban changing the angle here could make it an individual effort, but it seems pretty apparent that Tomas Plekanec's screen causes Lehner to lose track of the puck, so I'll call this a team effort on a zone play.

March 21st, 2013: Plekanec creates some space with a stutter step on the half wall, and Markov bolts down low while Subban edges up into Markov's old position. Plekanec tosses a pass up to Subban that he one-times through Kevin Poulin. This goal was a team effort on a zone play.

March 21st, 2013: Max Pacioretty takes the puck down the left wing and puts a shot on Poulin that's stopped, but he lets out an egregious rebound. Subban grabs it and fakes a hard slap shot, then kind of slap passes it towards the net, and it bounces off of Mark Streit's stick and in. The rebound of the Pacioretty shot directly contributed to this one so I'll say it was a team effort off the rush.

March 27th, 2013: Lars Eller enters the zone and goes right into traffic, leaving a drop pass for Alex Galchenyuk. Galchenyuk brings the puck to the bottom of the right circle before reversing it up to Subban at the point, who one-times a perfect slap shot off the pipe and in past Tuukka Rask. This goal was a team effort off the rush.

April 11th, 2013: Pacioretty and Markov set up Subban for a one-timer that Tyler Myers blocks (which we learned after the game broke his leg). Brendan Gallagher sends the rebound around the boards back to Pacioretty. He gives the puck to Markov, who exchanges it with Subban before Markov gets a chance for a one-timer that's stopped. Gallagher grabs the rebound again and rings one off the post, and the puck bounces back up to Markov. This time he sets Subban up, the one-timer makes it through and beats Jhonas Enroth. This goal was a team effort on a zone play.

May 7th, 2013: Plekanec beats Erik Karlsson in the neutral zone and breaks into the Ottawa zone. He finds Subban all alone who waits, then puts a bullet wrist shot through Craig Anderson's blocker side. Normally when a player has the puck as long as Subban did in this instance, I would say it's an individual effort, but I just can't ignore what a big factor Tomas Plekanec was in this play, so I'll call it a team effort off the rush.

May 7th, 2013: Plekanec wins the faceoff to Andrei Markov, who sets up Subban for a slightly off balance one-timer that Subban manages to get all of, and beats Anderson. This was a team effort on a zone play.

Tomorrow we'll look at how Subban's Norris season compares to his two previous seasons.
