What happened to Global Warming? I thought the IceCaps were supposed to melt, that wasn't the case last night when the Saint John's Ice Caps doubled up the Hamilton Bulldogs 2-1.

The Bulldogs played a decent game, even outshooting the IceCaps 27-25, the problem was they faded ... and a simpler problem is that the other team scored more goals than them.

In the first period they fired 13 shots, then 8, and finally, when trailing by one in the third, they only recorded 6 shots.

All three goals came in the second period. Jason Gregoire opened the scoring after grabbing a loose puck in front of the net. Halfway through the period the IceCaps doubled their lead on a Power Play with Jarred Tinordi in the box for roughing. Kael Mouillierat converted a Derek Meech pass through Cedric Desjardins' five-hole.

Brendan Gallagher put the Bulldogs on the board moments later. Gallagher gathered a Olivier Fortier drop pass and snapped the puck by Mark Dekanich for his team leading 9th of the season. Brendon Nash also picked up an assist on the play.

Gallagher, as we all know, has been a bright spot for a struggling Bulldogs team. In his past 5 games he has recorded 3 goals and 2 assists.

The Bulldogs had some chances in the third but Dekanich shut the door and turned aside all 6 Bulldogs shot to clinch the win. The Bulldogs have now lost three in a row in close contests. Twice they lost by one goal, and the third game they dropped in a shootout.

They'll try and snap their streak tonight against the San Antonio Rampage.
