Artturi Lehkonen continues scoring, but it isn't enough to beat Canada

Bruce Bennett

Once again Lehkonen impresses for Finland, but Canada was too strong for them.

Artturi Lehkonen is an impressive offensive specimen, and he's continuing to prove himself as one of Finland's top options for the upcoming World Juniors. In today's game against Canada, Lehkonen scored the third goal of the game for Finland, bringing the game to within one.

The Finns couldn't even it up though, and Canada scored an empty netter to win the game 5-3. Lehkonen has racked up four goals and one assist for five points in his three games so far, tied for the lead in the tournament with teammate and linemate Teuvo Teravainen. More impressive though, is that Lehkonen leads all players in goals with four.

Charles Hudon didn't suit up for Canada today, no doubt due to a lingering injury to his back. Hudon insists that the injury would not stop him from playing, but he's a lock for the team so it wouldn't make sense to put extra strain on it for no real reason.

Michael McCarron will be suiting up for the USA in their game against Sweden shortly, playing on their second line and attempting to replicate monday's performance where he scored a goal and an assist. Sebastian Collberg won't be suiting up for Sweden after suffering a knee injury on Monday. He has no swelling in the knee and is listed as day-to-day, but like Hudon he's a lock for his team so there's no point in stressing his injury.
