The ovation went up as soon as the crowd realized who was shooting, and it only got louder.
When Alex Galchenyuk's name was announced, you could feel the ripple of excitement throughout the Bell Centre, even with a constantly buffering internet live stream.
And Galchneyuk didn't disappoint, going backhand shelf on Peter Budaj to a raucous ovation from the Bell Centre crowd louder than most arenas when a team wins a playoff game.
