"When Price's deal gets done with the Canadiens, I would expect that the term will be a lot less, in the neighbourhood of 6-7 years, but the cap hit will likely be more than Quick's, maybe $6 to $6.5 million per year. " - Bob McKenzie
— Following the 10-year extension for Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick, the topic of Carey Price's next contract was discussed on TSN's
Insider Trading segment on Thursday.
Per
Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette, Price is hoping to get a deal done in the next two weeks. The Canadiens filed for arbitration last week, in a strategic move to prevent other teams from filing an offer sheet.
Stubbs also reports that negotiations on a deal for P.K. Subban are also expected to start shortly.
Meanwhile a decision is expected to be made by coveted collegiate defenseman Justin Schultz sometime this afternoon. The Oilers and Senators are reported to be the front-runners in a group of six teams.
