Serge Savard was the first defenseman to win the Conn Smythe Trophy (1969). He also won the Bill Masterton Trophy (1979) and his eight Stanley Cups is an NHL record for defenseman. He later became the General Manager for the last two Canadiens Cup championships. Member of Hall of Fame.
