A Rock of Gibraltor on defense for the Canadiens for 15 seasons, Emile “Butch” Bouchard was the team’s first Quebec born captain, holding the honour from 1948 to 1956. Butch, known for his rugged style and thundering bodychecks, was one of the most respected players of his team. During his career, he helped the Canadiens to three Stanley Cups and made the first all-star team three times.
