John Moore suspension: Rangers defenseman banned for 2 games

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

The decision didn't take long, Moore is out for the series.

It took a long time, years of plotting and planning, but Stephane Quintal has finally struck back at the Rangers for not being the fit that he thought they were when he signed there as an unrestricted free agent in 1999. How did he do it? By suspending New York's 6th defenseman, John Moore. Take that, Rangers!

Quintal announced the suspension with a 15 minute video that was just a closeup of his face while he laughed maniacally.

Seriously though, John Moore laid a brutal hit on Dale Weise that was a blatant head shot, and he's gone for two games. It probably should have been three games, but the NHL considers game misconducts as equal to being suspended for a game, which is ridiculous when the hit happens in the third period, but the Rangers only have two more games to play in this series anyway, so it doesn't matter.

It's possible that former Canadiens defenseman Raphael Diaz will draw into the lineup to replace Moore, but he plays the right side, same Kevin Klein, so it may end up being Justin Falk instead, a towering defenseman with a lack of mobility.

Here's the suspension video:
