Hamilton Bulldogs Game Thread: Bulldogs @ Marlies

Joonas Nattinen has been playing extremely well for the Bulldogs as of late. - Tom Szczerbowski

After breaking a losing streak and exploding for 6 goals against the Marlies last night, the Bulldogs travel to Ricoh for a rematch.

The veteran laden Marlies team are sure to be a tougher out this time around, as back to backs are always tougher in the second half. Today will be the second game back after long absences for Matt Frattin and Alexander Avtsin, both collecting two points in their first game action, but Cedrick Desjardins will be backing up Robert Mayer.

Nathan Beaulieu worked himself into the dog house last game, but hopefully he can redeem himself this afternoon. Young Beaulieu is oozing with talent, but needs to remember that sometimes the simple play is best. Still, he's been one of the better defensemen on this young team so far this season.

Interesting fact: After 12 games, Brendan Gallagher has the same number of points Louis Leblanc had in 12. Leblanc had 3 goals and 5 assists, Gallagher is at 5 goals and 3 assists. We all know Leblanc was shooting the lights up as an AHL rookie, but Gallagher is actually outshooting him slightly at this early stage, 46-42. These two guys are high volume shooters, hopefully Leblanc can add his shots to the 'Dogs soon.

The Bulldogs outchanced the Marlies 16-10 at even strength last night, but the Marlies won the special teams battle by a 7-3 margin. It is imperative to stay disciplined in order to win against this Marlies team.

Jussi Rynnas was injured in the warmup for last game. He would likely get the start if he's ready to go.
