Canadiens vs Red Wings third period thread

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

A goal from the purple teletubby, but Wings trail going into the third.

Despite a marker from Tinky Winky and a shot off the post from Gustav Nyquist, Montreal continued to fly in the second. Thomas Vanek set up Desharnais for DD's 14th of the season.

The Red Wings still looked flat despite strong efforts from Tomas Jurco and all but five Wings registering a shot on net. Legwand was again a beast on face-offs - going 11 for 15, but he still couldn't match his opposite number in terms of offensive production.

Gallagher continues to try to set up his office in the opposition's crease. He and his swingline stapler ended up in the box.

Montreal has not lost when leading after forty and Detroit is not exactly a third period juggernaut. I'm not saying this ending writes itself, but Montreal is looking like the real deal and Detroit is looking like it won't be 23 straight seasons in the playoffs.
