Dustin Tokarski signed to a 1 year deal with the Montreal Canadiens

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

The Habs have wrapped up their final restricted free agent, signing Tokarski to a 1 year deal.

It took long enough, but the Montreal Canadiens have finally signed their starting goaltender for the Hamilton Bulldogs. Dustin Tokarski has signed a 1 year deal with the club, a two-way contract with undisclosed terms as of yet.

Tokarski was acquired in exchange for Cedrick Desjardins, who was struggling in Hamilton, and put up a .927 save percentage that only carried him to a 6-8-0 record as the Bulldogs failed to supply any offense down the stretch.

Tokarski will be 24 years old in September, and though he has had success at every level, has not been able to stick in the NHL. He is good depth though.

PRESS RELEASE

MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced Monday the signing of goaltender Dustin Tokarski to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2013-14 season.

Tokarski, 23, suited up for 15 games with the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs in 2012-13, posting a record of six wins and eight losses, a 2.22 goals against average and a .927 save percentage.

The 5'11'' and 198 lbs goaltender also played 33 games with the Syracuse Crunch last season, posting a 18-8-4 record, a 2.46 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.

The Humboldt, Saskatchewan native Tokarski was acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning in return for goaltender Cédrick Desjardins on February 14, 2013. Selected in the 5th round, 122nd overall by the Lightning in 2008, Tokarski played in seven NHL regular season games with Tampa Bay between 2009 and 2012.

Tokarski won the Calder Cup with the AHL Norfolk Admirals in 2011-12.
