Canadiens vs Bruins - 10 parting (for now) questions with Stanley Cup of Chowder

USA TODAY Sports

At the beginning of the season series, Stanley Cup of Chowder's Heather/lilybrayden and I decided to do a cross-blog post in which we asked each other 10 questions [Heather's post is here]. We enjoyed it so much, we teamed up for every Habs-Bruins game this season. Here is our final installment (until the playoffs, because of course we want to see them there).

To close out our season series, Heather and I have decided to do a parting 10 questions. Here are her answers to my questions (for the record, Andrew wanted me to make every question about Jarome Iginla. I guess I kind of did):

1. The Bruins missed out on Jarome Iginla in a horribly cruel turn of events. What Boston Bruins player has surprised you most this season, be it in a good way or a bad way?

Tough question, because I kind of expected a down year from Lucic. It's tough to see so many defensive breakdowns from Andrew Ference. Obviously he's one of my favorite players but his play hasn't been great and that's tough to see.

2. The Bruins missed out on Jarome Iginla in a horribly cruel turn of events. Now that it's becoming evident that our teams will be battling for the division lead right down to the wire, what will be key for the Bruins if they hope to take it?

Yeah, the Habs won't quit and that's annoying. I think Jagr gives the Bruins a little boost which will help them down the stretch. The schedule is in their favor as far as opponents and a couple more division games and I'm hoping the Leafs will do the Bruins some favors when they play the Habs

3. The Bruins missed out on Jarome Iginla in a horribly cruel turn of events. What is your prediction for Saturday night's game?

I predict a high scoring affair with lots of emotion, hurt feelings, finger pointing, controversial calls, with incredible fallout. Wait - that's every Bruins Habs game. I do think it'll be high scoring and I think Jagr wins in OT and salutes the crowd.

4. The Bruins missed out on Jarome Iginla in a horribly cruel turn of events. Smoked meat vs poutine: which are you most excited to eat while here?

Poutine, I've actually never had it! I've had opportunities but I wanted to have it in Montreal first. I also plan to eat some smoked meat as well. (Laura note: fuck yeah poutine.)

5. The Bruins missed out on Jarome Iginla in a horribly cruel turn of events. In order of how much you dread them, which three potential playoff opponents scare you the most?

1. Ottawa - that team could have packed it in and gave up after devastating injuries. They are super fun to watch and that combination of will and playing with Alfredsson to try to win a cup. I don't know - teams like THAT scare me. (Laura note: THEY SCARE ME MOST TOO)

2. Pittsburgh - it's hard to beat that lineup. The are just so good offensively and have so much firepower and seriously. But lets face it, we're all hoping that they exit in the first round after hoarding all the players and generally just being Pittsburgh.

3. Habs- Just cause.

6. The Bruins missed out on Jarome Iginla in a horribly cruel turn of events. Tell me what you hope Jaromir Jagr will improve on the Bruins.

I'm hoping the powerplay. Too many one close games for the Bruins in the playoffs last year, having a decent powerplay would have made a difference. I'm dying to see him play with Krecji, but with Bergeron's injury - who knows if Jagr will get a chance to play with him.

7. The Bruins missed out on Jarome Iginla in a horribly cruel turn of events. Can you teach me how to Dougie?

No, I can't teach you how to Dougie. Please never ask me again.

8. The Bruins missed out on Jarome Iginla in a horribly cruel turn of events. Getting ahead of ourselves: Would you rather face Chicago or LA in the finals?

That is getting ahead of ourselves. I would love a Bruins/Blackhawks Final. I think it would a ton of fun to watch those teams play each other. I'm a big fan of a fun final. The Stanley Cup playoffs are the best in sports and it's so hard to get to the final it's no fun if it's not a good match up. I think Boston/Chicago would be a good time.

9. The Bruins missed out on Jarome Iginla in a horribly cruel turn of events. What team, other than yours, are you most excited to watch in the playoffs, and what non-Bruins player?

I want to see the Blue Jackets in the playoffs. I just think the playoffs are so special and that team is pretty fun to watch. It's easy to forget, being in a well established hockey city that makes the playoffs consistently, how much fun it is to get into the playoffs.

My favorite playoff bound non Bruin? If the Flyers sneak into the playoffs - I'm interested to see Claude Giroux. If not - Patrick Kane. I just think those guys are fun to watch play hockey.

10. The Bruins missed out on Jarome Iginla in a horribly cruel turn of events. Seriously, how can you still be friends with me after this?

I can't even imagine a scenario where I would stop being your friend. You are always welcome to come stay with us in Boston and I'll gladly share some poutine tots and we can skip down Yawkey Way together! You are super cool, we have similar taste in hockey players and food and stuff. We just don't agree on hockey teams. As far as your line of questioning: I know who was pulling the strings! I would just say this: I can't even imagine the outrage the Habs fans would feel if they went through that horribly cruel turn of events (editor's note: we kind of did already with Marian Hossa). I went to bed not thrilled with the result of the game but happy to have a new player in Ignila. I woke up to find out that he'd been sniped in the middle of the night. I was in a foul mood for a couple days, now I am over it and focused on the final stretch and scoreboard watching and saluting. Lots of saluting.

And there you have it. Hope we'll get a chance to do seven more cross-blog posts this spring! Huge thanks to Heather and SCoC for playing with us. Go Habs, forever.
