I have always been a hockey fan, I saw Mighty Ducks ( Kind of an odd starting spot I know) when I was four and never looked back. If hockey was on, I watched it. Growing up in Connecticut this meant being forced to watch the Rangers, Islanders and Bruins. However, I never ended up gravitating to a certain team. In fact I usually ended up rooting against the local teams and their fan bases. I was a huge NHL fan but never really had a team that I watched or became a real fan of. I've always rooted for the Canadiens during the playoffs because seeing how passionate the fans are, it always captivated me. Last winter my wife and I made it up to Montreal for a long weekend and we caught a game. I have never been to an NHL game and experienced that type of electric fan base. I've seen the Rangers at MSG, Bruins at TD Garden and even the Wings at the Joe but, nothing came close to the atmosphere in Montreal. I have to admit I was hooked, and have followed the Habs closely ever since, that being said I do live in Rangers/Bruins (mostly Bruins bandwagon fans now that they won a Cup) and I was wondering...is it acceptable for a born and raised American to be a Montreal Canadiens fan?
