Bulldogs Player of the Week: Dustin Tokarski

Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club

After alternating starts with Robert Mayer the former Calder Cup champion is taking over in the crease for Hamilton.

Hamilton's goaltending tandem of Robert Mayer and Dustin Tokarski has been a major bright spot on a team still forming their identity this season. As of late Mayer has struggled in his starts and ended up being pulled in favor of Tokarski in two straight starts.

Tokarski has gone ahead and seized this opportunity and is firmly entrenching himself as the starting goaltender for the Bulldogs this year. Tokarski would kick off his week with a 33 save performance in a 3-1 loss to the Rochester Amerks and would be named the second star of the game for his efforts.

Following that he would come in to relieve Robert Mayer against the Lake Erie Monster and would stop 9 out of the 10 shots he faced in relief. Tokarski would then start the following night again against Lake Erie and would stop 28 out of 30 shots in regulation and overtime. Even more encouraging was the fact that Tokarski would go a perfect 5 for 5 in the shootout to grab the much needed victory for Hamilton

Honorable Mention:

Joonas Nättinen: The Finnish born forward finally made his presence felt this week for the Bulldogs as he collected a goal and an assist in a 5-3 loss to the Monsters. Nättinen's goal is his second of the year and the assist on Michael Blunden's third goal of the year was his second

Only one honorable mention this week as no one else truly stood out but it's worth mention that Nathan Beaulieu collected his first goal of the year and Sven Andrighetto continues to put the puck in the net by potting his seventh goal of the season against Rochester
