The Montreal Canadiens have signed defenseman Alexei Emelin to a 4-year contract extension.

At roughly noon, the Canadiens announced that hard hitting defenceman Alexei Emelin signed a 4 year extension worth $16.4 million.


The contract will pay Emelin an average of $4.1M per year, and also means that we will see four more years of bone crushing hits:


His $4.1M cap hit places him in the upper echelon in terms of pay scale for defensive d-men.
