It's the Lalour Day weekend, so why not kick it off with ending NHL/NHLPA CBA discussions? (Photo: Charles LeClaire-US PRESSWIRE)
This month marks the 40th anniversary of the '72 Summit Series between Team Canada and the Soviet Union. Over the next month there will be several posts across the web on this series. There will probably be more if the CBA negotiations remain at a halt.
Red Fisher has taken a sabbatical from his writing retirement to reminisce on the series that we witnessed first hand. You can read here about Game 1, which was played in Montreal 40 years ago Sunday.
Like many Canadians, Stu Cowan puts his hat in to have Paul Henderson inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Henderson himself feels he is unworthy, and I agree.
As heroic as Henderson's accomplishments were in that series, his overall playing career in not Hall worthy. In his article, Cowan argues that Valeri Kharlamov and Vladislav Tretiak are in the Hall, but fails to note that their career international accomplishments were worthy of that honor. That said, neither Mr. Cowan nor I are part of the HHOF selection committee, who have made some peculiar decisions in recent years.

The Top 20 overpaid NHLers. Can you guess who's on it?
Max Pacioretty hosted his charity golf tournament earlier this week. P.K. Subban was on hand, and spoke about wanting to remain with the Habs. We all know P.K. loves Montreal, and he may have inadvertently tweeted why today. Subban apologized for the pic, not looking behind him, but what was the parent of the kids taking the photo?
Finally, Mike Boone has called it a career with the Montreal Gazette. His farewell column was posted Friday, but he will continue to contribute to HIO with the game blogs and his "About Last Night features. Mike has been a friend to EOTP since the inception of both sites, and we are thankful to have had him in our corner over the years.
