Jean-Yves Ahern-US PRESSWIRE
A big hit produced a bad result for the 4th generation Canadien.
Blake Geoffrion was injured in the first period of today's Hamilton Bulldogs game against the Syracuse Crunch at the Bell Centre on a hit by Jean-Philippe Cote.
The hit resulted in Geoffrion losing his helmet and making contact with both the ice and Cote's skate. Geoffrion was rushed to hospital and underwent surgery for what the Canadiens and Sylvain Lefebvre say is a non-life threatening injury.
Few if any details are available about the injury, although there is speculation that he suffered a subdural hematoma.
Clearly our thoughts are with Geoffrion and his family right now, and we hope that quick reaction from the Bell Centre medical staff and quick successful surgery result in no long term damage
Hopefully Blake is back to being healthy as soon as possible, we'll have details for you when they're available.
UPDATE: Geoffrion suffered a depressed skull fracture and is out indefinitely, but he is expected to make a full recovery.
