Hockey Night in Canada

Growing up in Syracuse, NY you would wonder how can you become a Habs fan ? We also had a camp in Cape Vincent, NY which is basically right across the St. Lawrence River from Wolfe Island and Kingston, Ontario. We would go up there every weekend year round, the winter months we would snowmobile, ice fish and of course put the skates on and play hockey!!! On Saturday evening we would tune in to Hockey Night in Canada on CKWS channel 11 out of Kingston. The games we saw in the late 60's and 70's were absolutely amazing!!!! We could not wait for daylight on Sunday morning to put on the skates and roleplay our favorite players. Montreal was on most Saturday nights and easily became the team of choice and to this day are my #1 team!!! Our local cable company does not get CKWS, so to this day, we have an antenna on our roof that picks up CKWS so we can still watch Hockey Night in Canada. I am asked many times while wearing my Habs gear how I became a fan and always enjoy telling my story. Go Habs!!!
