Habs prospect Blake Geoffrion is expected to make a full recovery after undergoing surgery to treat a depressed skull fracture.

Blake Geoffrion is expected to make a full recovery after suffering a depressed skull fracture following a hit from Syracuse Crunch forward J.P. Cote on Friday night. Geoffrion, a Montreal Canadiens prospect playing for the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs, was buried into the boards by a clean hit from Cote as he skated with the puck down the wing.

The Habs announced Saturday afternoon that Geoffrion had surgery to repair the injury. He's in stable condition at a Montreal hospital and the good news is that he's expected to fully recover, although he's out of the Bulldogs lineup indefinitely.

Cote sent his well-wishes to Geoffrion via Twitter on Saturday morning. Geoffrion was drafted in the second round of the 2006 draft by the Nashville Predators. He won the Hobey Baker Award as college hockey's top player in 2010 while with Wisconsin and was traded to the Montreal organization in February 2012.
