Preseason: Bulldogs vs Marlies

Jean-Yves Ahern-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Hamilton opens their preseason schedule with a game against Toronto.

In true Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs tradition, both team's AHL affiliates play tonight to open the Bulldogs' preseason schedule in Cobourg, Ontario.

The game starts a 7PM EST and you can listen to it here.

Former Toronto Marlie and Maple Leaf Darrel Boyce was inked to a professional try out contract with the Hamilton Bulldogs yesterday, and he should faceoff against his former team tonight.

The Marlies were one of the best teams in the AHL last season, losing in the finals to the powerhouse Norfolk Admirals (the Tampa Bay Lightning's farm team), who were managed by the highly coveted Julien Brisebois, the former GM of the Bulldogs.

The game will be called by friend of the blog and Bulldogs stalwart, Derek Wills on AM 820 in Hamilton. Derek will be interviewing Louis Leblanc in the 1st intermission, so be sure to tune in.

Today is the next step for Bulldogs hopefuls like Bobby Farnham to prove they belong, and it is also the first AHL action for Brendan Gallagher, Michael Bournival, Patrick Holland, Jarred Tinordi, and Nathan Beaulieu. Morgan Ellis is likely still out with an upper body injury.
