Andrei Kostitsyn trade?
Since neither Kostitsyn seems to get along with the coach there, and Andrei would be a 1st or 2nd liner here in Nashville - what would it take in trade for the Habs to give him up?
My proposal: David Legwand + 5th or 6th rounder OR middling prospect.
What would it take for the deal to get done? Please do not reply with Shea Weber. :) I think I have a fair trade here, and Legwand might play harder under the Montreal spotlight and a coach like Martin.

Montreal is better off handling this situation like they handled Pacioretty. Quietly working behind the scenes to make the guy happy without very much fuss. AKost may believe that the coach doesn’t like him much but his usage indicates that Martin actually holds him in fairly high regard.

I think the problem here isn’t with AK, but it’s with Martin. He’s an inconsistent coach. And he’s not a great offensive coach. As soon as the Habs lose a game, Martin mixes up all the lines. For half the season Moen was playing with Cammy and Plek, I mean come on! I respect Moen and the guy tries hard, but Moen on the first line? Yea, I don’t think that AK tries his hardest on every shift but still. Now I’m sure that AK won’t be traded, but if he will be traded then I might as well put up a big one.
To NSH:
Andrei Kostitsyn
Jarred Tinordi
2012 2nd Round Draft Pick
To MTL:
Martin Erat
Conditional 2012 7th Round Draft Pick
That trade is ridiculous. Kostitsyn is as valuable as Erat is on his own. No way Erat brings in a 2nd round pick and a high end prospect as well.

Kostitsyn trade
I’d do Colin Wilson or Craig Smith in a trade straight up !
I’m not sure either side would do that deal. Legwand looks like a lifelong Predator, and is 5 years older with limited upside at $4.5M a year. He’s a great second-line guy, but a little expensive for a club who has a lot already invested in C (and looks willing to wait on Eller, Desharnais and Leblanc to progress), but he shows up in the playoffs. AK still has potential to be a top 3 guy, and is a top 6 guy now (however inconsistent), and he has the skillset Nashville desperately needs upfront, but the last thing Nashville needs is another Kostitsyn to frustrate Trotts. I actually don’t mind the trade at all for either side from a hockey perspective, although that 5th and 6th would have to be replaced with say a Zach Budish or Roman Josi-type. I just think that A) the Predators and Trotts seem loyal and dependent on Legwand and B) AK won’t be going to a team with such a strong coach figure after his recent fuss. Sadly, AK’s trade value is probably a lot lower then this at the moment, despite his obvious talent.
On the flip side, Weber has to go somewhere (or Suter does). Should be interesting to see what half of the NHL’s best pairing nets at the deadline.
