Around SBN: Lance Berkman Could Have Torn ACL

The Habs road record may have only recently pushed the .500 mark, but that's not the result of poor play: they generally have carried the play when the game is tied, which is arguably the best indicator of a team's strength. Bad shooting percentage (which often means bad luck) and an inability to draw penalties are probably the two most prominent things keeping Montreal down in the #6 seed in the East right now.

NONSENSE! Montreal is a sucky road team. A thousand media commentators can’t possibly be wrong! And those numbers claim Montreal carry the play like an elite team period!

I mean Montreal carries the play more than Almighty Boston? That’s unthinkable! Clearly, the science is broken!

Also, Gomez sucks!

You forgot Martin is an idiot. He just sits there and folds his arm.

This bodes well for the playoffs though. If you can carry the play and have an elite goaltender, then success is not out of the question.

Playoffs? I thought that two weeks ago we were scratching and clawing for every point in hopes of just squeaking in?

We’re not gritty enough to scratch and claw.

We just skate around. I mean, sure they outshoot, but it’s pretty clear they always shoot from the outside.

I think it’s because they’re too small. If they were bigger, they’d be closer to the net when they shoot.

Rangers and Thrashers were locks according to TSN.

You know, because the Thrashers are young. Montreal is full of grey beards like Price, Subban, Eller, Pacioretty, Desharnais. Jesus, even Cammalleri and Plekanec are 28 and 27.

Gionta is what, 32? On most teams he would have retired already, but the Habs suck so much, they have to rely on him.

Yeah just a bunch of washed-up has beens. That article I saw in the Toronto Star post-trade deadline was asolutely right. The Habs are an old team getting older

Did they really write that about a club that dresses four rookies on a regular basis, not to mention key youngsters like Price and Pacioretty?

I guess that by “old” they used average age. At the start of the season. There’s a difference between a team with a few old guys and an old team.

On a tangent, where does this notion that PG owes anyone a splash come from? Do I sense some disappointment that the media circus fell flat?

Clap clap clap clap

Good job everyone.

Do we take bets on how the media will explain the Hab’s success if they do well in the playoffs?

I’m thinking about going with Price stealing every game, but I know Gomez stepping up will be big too.

by Hypnotoad on Mar 7, 2011 4:58 PM EST reply actions

Preventing cross-crease passes, keeping shots to the outside, gutsy shot-blocking, big scorers stepping up when it counts and incredible goaltending.

by Roke on Mar 7, 2011 5:33 PM EST up reply actions

And then I’ll start a flamewar by stating that they just stopped being unlucky.

Good times.

There’s no such thing as luck. Stop making excuses.
