Word from Habs practice

Well it was no surprise that Montreal Canadiens coach Jacques Martin put his boys through an intense set of stating drills.

According to tweets from Dave Stubbs, Francois Gagnon and J-F Chaumont, the Habs coach out the team through a series of skating drills (nearly 17 minutes worth before a water break) before players even touched a puck.

Stubbs called it the hardest practice he had seen since training camp, with Martin hollering at players who slowed down a stride.

The coach also made a few more changes on the forward lines. Jeff Halpern was back on the wing with Tomas Plekanec and Mike Cammalleri, and Mathieu Darche got a look on the ever changing wing alongside Brian Gionta and Scott Gomez. David Desharnais, Benoit Pouliot and Ryan White were put back together, and Lars Eller centered Travis Moen and Andrei Kostitsyn.

Defense pairings remained the same, and Tom Pyatt and Yannick Weber still appear to be the odd men out, as they formed the fourth defensive pairing.

After a gruelling 64-minute practice, this afternoon, the Canadiens will get Monday off to rest up for the Atlanta Thrashers.
