This Day in Habs History for Oct 25

1947: Bill Durnan recorded his 12th career shutout in the Canadiens' 5-0 win over Boston.

1969: A one-time Habs prospect, Chicago Blackhawks' rookie goaltender Tony Esposito got the victory in their 5-0 win over the Canadiens at Montreal. It was the first of 15 shutouts for Esposito in 1969-70 - an NHL record for rookie goaltenders.

1973: Jacques Lemaire scored his 4th career hat trick and goaltender Wayne Thomas recorded his second career shutout, as the Canadiens defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-0.

1979: Steve Shutt scored his 250th career goal along with four assists, as Montreal won 8-5 over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Pierre Larouche scored 4 goals (for his 5th career hat trick and his first with the Canadiens) and added an assist.

1984: Guy Lafleur scored his 518th and final goal as a member of the Montreal Canadiens in a 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres. His next NHL goal would come four years later with the New York Rangers.

1997: The Canadiens became the first club in NHL history to record 6,000 career points with a 4-2 road win against the Ottawa Senators. The Canadiens reached the milestone in their 4,986th regular season game.
