Report: Kostitsyn on the block
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun/QMI reports that the Montreal Canadiens might move Andrei Kostitsyn to help their woes on defence.
"The Canadiens have no idea when veteran blueliner Andrei Markov might return from off-season knee surgery, and sources say the Habs may be willing to part with winger Andrei Kostitsyn to get help.
"Making $3.25 million and set to become a UFA on July 1, Kostitsyn, 26, isn’t the kind of player everybody wants, but he’s coming off a 20-goal campaign and has been one of the club’s best players this season."
The article was released just prior to the Habs 5-4 OT loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, in which Kostitsyn scored his second goal of the season.

I don’t think anything Bruce Garrioch writes is worth repeating.

Pretty much, he’s Eklund if Eklund worked for a media outlet.

When has Garrioch been right on anything? He creates rumours, big difference than reporting them.

This would be a stupid move.....
……we just need JM to remove that urge to shuffle lines every 48 seconds or so. He needs to stick AK46 with Eller and Cole and you have a dynamite line. Also, JM has to leave Eller in the middle…did you see the way he played tonite attacking the zone…..he wasn’t named the 3rd Star for nothing.
"It's only through change we learn to grow".
This is the exact type of thinking that led to the trading of Ribeiro. All we got in return was Noneahma.
Sam Pollock said that a team should never trade from a position of weakness. We have four young kids on defense – let them play and gain experience. There will never be a better time to find out just what they can do.
Play AK46 with Eller for 20 games and see what happens. MaxPac with DD and Cammy with Pleks.
Bang on. There’s no point in making a move while half our team is learning the NHL game the hard way.
A number of people here have already noted that many of our players have been rushed into bigger minutes than expected before the start of the season, rather than being eased in. Its not going to get better tomorrow, so we may as well let November play out before we trade our #2 winger.
The team played a good game last night. A couple of defensive mistakes that we would not have seen last year, but that’s to be expected. Emelin looked decent, and the forwards were all over Toronto after the first 10 minutes of the first period.
Its a long season, and even if we miss the playoffs this year, the team will be stronger next year, provided we don’t sell off our scoring wingers for peanuts.
