1930: Montreal Canadiens obtained Johnny Gagnon from Providence (Can-Am) in trade for Gerry Carson, Jean Pusie and cash.

1950: Montreal's rookie goalie Gerry McNeil recorded his second consecutive shutout to lead the Canadiens to a 2-0 win over the visiting Detroit Red Wings. It was the third career shutout for McNeil.

1975: Guy Lafleur scored twice and added three assists to lead the Canadiens to a 7-1 win against the Penguins, at Pittsburgh.

1980: Rookie Keith Acton scored the first goal of his NHL career, in a 4-3 Canadiens' loss to the St. Louis Blues.

1987: Montreal's Mats Naslund scored a goal and added three assists as the Canadiens won 10-3 over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

1995: Four days after firing GM Serge Savard and Coach Jacques Demers, the Canadiens named their new management team: Rejean Houle, GM, and Mario Tremblay Head Coach. Habs won 4-3 over Toronto, at the Forum, on a Pierre Turgeon goal at 19:59
