It was obvious
the Pens turned the Habs own gameplay against them. This would actually not have worked had the Habs managed to pot one or two of their golden opportunities in the 1st – then the Pens couldn’t have done that. But they made the quick adaptation. Our offense has become predictable, as has our PP and PK, so I no longer think this series is winnable for us, because JM does not adapt quickly. If we do change it up, it’ll be Muller who gets it rolling. Habs played a tight game, and actually a good one, but offensively they’re weaker and tonight that killed them. They don’t have any momentum coming out of the 1st period without at least a goal, and they need to learn to overcome that mental block.
I’m not sure why the Bell Centre ice is an advantage for every single team except the Montreal Canadiens, especially if the opposing team is icing a French-Canadian goalie. Habs talk about their love for their fans, but never actually deliver. This is a major pet peeve. If we had won both games in Pitts, I’d be happier, cause then I’d think we still stood a chance, but we lost 1, so we need one on home ice, and that’s not something the Habs have done well for a long long time, with the one exception being Game 6 of the Washington matchup. I almost wish they didn’t have to play any games at the Bell Centre at all during the playoffs.
Basically what Tyg said.
It was imperative that we adjusted to your staunch defense after game 2, and I was very pleased with the result.
Game 4 will be crucial in this series. Indeed, game 2 was crucial as well, as if the Pens had won that this would be a 3-0 series. If the Pens win Thursday, the Habs will be in the same position they were against the Caps, and the difficulty for the Habs will lie in the fact that the Pens are more willing to adjust their gameplay than the Caps.
If the Habs win game 4, we’re back at square one, and then game 5 will be quite important.
