If this doesn't get you pumped......
Is this the Mellon Arena's swan song?
Canadiens record at Mellon Arena all time 98-49-34-13-2
Some meaningles number voodoo for fans freaked by numerology would suggest that the arena has been open for 50 years and that if the Canadiens were to win, it would be their 50th win at the Igloo.
It's also game number 99, and we all know what that is upside down!
Penguins are nervous, tight, worried and doubting.
Habs have nothing to lose?
Maxim Lapierre - "We have everything to lose!"
This team has it's sights set higher!
And I got a feeling that tonight's gonna be a good, good night!
Go Habs Go
Dropping down in the draft:
The Canadiens finished 19th out of 30 teams in 2009-10, but since they qualified as one of 16 playoffs teams, they would be drafting 15th overall. In numbers 1 to 30, among the 14 non-playoff teams, St. Louis (15th, 90pts), Calgary (16th, 90pts) and Anaheim (17th, 89pts) would be drafting in the twelveth, thirteenth, and fourteenth positions respectively, ahead of the Canadiens and Flyers who finished with less point.
Here's where the Habs (and perhaps the Flyers) stand. Should Montreal win tonight, their draft pick would drop to one of the final four picks, or between 27th to 30th.
So a Habs win tonight basically drops them at least 12 positions in the draft. Strange rule that!
"To live the reality of Montreal is hard to explain to people - and what the atmosphere is like, unless you’re in that building. It’s pretty cool. I remember Kirk Muller and I were having a bite to eat a couple of months ago and he said to me, ‘What do you think?’ And I said, ‘When I was a kid and dreamed of playing in the NHL, this is what I dreamed it would be like.
"They expect a lot out of you, the public and the fans, but you have to expect a lot out of yourself. If you don’t perform to the best of your ability, people aren’t going to be happy with you.
"But in pro sport, we put more pressure on ourselves than anyone else ... I know I’ve only been here a year and things can go up and down quickly in this business; I’m not naive to that; but having said that, I almost feel bad for any guy who plays his whole NHL career without ever experiencing what it’s like to be a Montreal Canadien. I understand that it can be ugly too, but it’s pretty fun right now.
