An Analogy For The Habs Season, In Song?

I was mentioning this old forgotten ditty, some misguided genius of a tune, to an old friend two nights ago, while watching Olympic hockey. We're talking of guy slightly older than I by a few years. He'd never heard of it!

Nonetheless, I'm describing the song to him, and he cuts me off (and cuts me up) mid-sentence to say, "It sounds like an analogy for your Habs!

I was talking about "Stairway to Gilligan's Island", or Gilligan's Island (Stairway) as it's known, by a fifteen minute fame band called Little Roger and the Goosebumps. The 15 minutes occured when Led Zeppelin forced a lawsuit upon Little Roger for copyright infringement. Hence, the 45 rpm vinyl is as rare as Flyer with a Lady Byng, as copies were destroyed.

My description went, "the song tries to marry two distinct but iconic ideas into one, and while it almost sounds like a nice fit, it's wildly chopped up and distorted."

That was the cue for my friend to ask, "Are they still shipwrecked at the end?"

"Why, yes!"

So, in some terms, it is an anology of sorts.
