Get Your Habs Centennial Jerseys While They Last? [UPDATE: Pics]

Canadiensspecial_medium

If you're a jersey geek and you don't already read Icethetics, first off, go update your bookmarks, dammit.  Second, you probably then didn't see this post, reporting that the two planned uses of the Centennial jerseys in 2010 will not be occurring: the new ownership has put the kaibosh on the last two Centennial games, since December 4 has come and gone.  This in and of itself, while disappointing to some, is also a relief to many, because some of the jerseys haven't aged particularly well (1912-13, I'm looking at you).  However, for those of us collecting, one of the comments to the story, by "Julien," is a bit troubling.

Star-divide

funny things is that the 800$ centennial worn jerseys on those nights are still for sale on the official habs website.

the RBK replicas are also half price everywhere...

Could the Canadiens be clearing out the jerseys already?  I don't know about the rest of Canada, but I know out here in Calgary, I've yet to see hide nor hair of any of the new Centennial jerseys for this season.  Jersey City, Pro Hockey Life, Sport Chek...none of them have any, nor know when they can expect any.  I'm beginning to wonder if they've even made their way outside Quebec, or if they ever will.

Just to be safe, I've ordered my 1909-10 and 1910-11 (which may be my favourite of the bunch) from Shop.Canada.NHL.com anyway.  You may want to do the same, if your favourite local sweater establishment isn't stocked.

Update: And they're in.  Let's see how they look.

1910-11

Awesome.

My jerseys arrived today.

Buyers’ remorse fell hard before the power of jersey love.

Thanks. I may be the only guy in Calgary who has them, so I’m a little excited. :)

I was worried you were going to get Kostitsyn jerseys for both of them. Good on you to keep them blank. Actually, putting Lalonde on the first one would have been a nice touch.

Hockey blogging can't get any flatter.

I had considered that very thing, but I can’t afford the extra $90-100 for lettering at this point. In fact, of my 16 (!) jerseys, I have 0 customized — my first priority would probably be my Oilers ’06 jersey with “PISANI 34”, for obvious reasons.

My mom, however, has her only jersey (Calgary Hitmen) with the name of her favourite player (Brandon Kozun) on it as my birthday gift to her.

Can’t go wrong with a junior number. I’d kill for a Corwall Royals’ Gilmour #9!

I’d have gotten the Kozun if she didn’t. He’s a treat to watch.

I’ll probably get either current Oilers prospect Alex Plante (#4) or current Habs ’tweener Ryan White (#25). Spent more time watching Plante, so probably him.

Newsy’s number will be going on the back of my retro 1915-16 sweater as soon as I get it tattered an old enough looking for it to not look out place. The aging of it is coming along quite nicely.
