Why do we hate Picard?

I keep reading that we should sit Picard...using what logic? I may be missing something. He has looked solid 5 on 5 as a 5th/6th defenseman. He looked steady on the pp recently and played a little pk last night without any disasters. So what is the deal? He has also been a good foil for our young d-men with PK and Weber making good strides thus far. I see him as playing a simple game, occasionally a good check or a good pinch or a good shot. He also has a pretty decent ability to make the first pass outta the zone. So what am I missing? For a cheap player with some experience and size, isn't this what you want? He may also be a Francophone player that is not only not scared to play in Montreal, but he appears to be playing his best hockey in the Bleu, Blanc and Rouge. Can somebody explain it?
