Bring On the 2010 World Junior Tourney
With the World Junior Tournament set to get underway tomorrow in Saskatchewan, Bruce Peter at Puck Daddy serves up an entree of ten delicious storylines that could very well tell the tale of the tournament.
You gotta love the WJC, and not just for Canada's dominance at it either. The tournament that consistently features the stars of tomorrow provides what is likely the most dramatic hockey of the year. The kids put their futures on the line with every shift and with more heart than the pros often do.
Check out the Hockey Canada homepage for all the information on the tournament.

Jordan Eberle’s last-second goal was the stuff of legend. I was at a Hitmen game and they had the WJ game on the smaller screen at the top of the scoreboard, and no one was watching the Hitmen play. ;) We were all about ready to give up on the game when Eberle did what he did and we all let loose a collective “WHAT?!”
They might as well have postponed the Hitmen game until after the shootout was over, for all it mattered.

I got the feeling that the players were less than interested in the game themselves, given that their teammate (Brett Sonne) was minutes from elimination. I think they won that game anyway (they won all but two home games I attended during the regular season, going something like 33-2-1 en route to the second-best WHL record ever), but yeah, it was kind of silly for us all to be there, given the circumstances.
Poor Pat Quinn. From coaching Canada at the World Juniors to coaching the worst team in the Western Conference. Wonder if he’d take it all back now if he could…
